Cabo’s finest clubs offer discounted green fees and twilight rates all summer

LOS CABOS, Mexico (July 23, 2020) – Reopened last month following the issuance of a clean bill of health by the state governor, golf courses in Los Cabos are actively promoting discounted green fees and golf packages for the summer season.

Recognized as a safe ‘social distancing’ sport, golf is a major recreational amenity in Los Cabos, the deserts-meets-ocean getaway at the tip of the Baja Peninsula that claims the title as the ‘Golf Capital of Latin America.’

In June, the World Travel & Tourism Council (WTTC) awarded its global safety stamp of approval to Los Cabos in recognition of the hygienic and sanitary measures that have been adopted.

At present, health protocols are in place at all Cabo courses to ensure that golf can be played safely in a clean environment. Each club has instituted its own safety rules, though common initiatives include a single-rider golf cart policy, 15-minute tee times to encourage social distancing, a foam noodle in base of cups for easy ball retrieval, the removal of bunker rakes, and other sensible procedures.

Safety policies and operational guidelines will be in effect for the foreseeable future. As the state government lowers risk levels in the weeks and months ahead, golf facilities will be free to add amenities and return to normal operations.

Golfers headed to Los Cabos this summer can look forward to well-conditioned courses, ample tee time availability, abundant sunshine and a very friendly welcome. While summer is family vacation time, it’s also the season that invites players to take a swing at bargain rates on a bevy of world-class venues.

For example, all three Questro Golf courses in Los Cabos offer significant seasonal discounts through Oct. 31. Best of all, last year’s rates were retained for 2020. All quotes are in USD.

Questro Golf’s quality leader is Puerto Los Cabos. Situated on the outskirts of San Jose del Cabo, an 18th-century colonial city, this 27-hole complex offers three 18-hole combinations thanks to the new Jack Nicklaus-designed nine-holer opened two years ago. Marked by subtly contoured greens, large sculpted bunkers and dramatic elevation changes, the new holes simulate the look of Jack’s original nine built in 2007. (The club’s third nine was laid out by Greg Norman). The 18-hole summer green fee at Puerto Los Cabos is $210. The twilight rate (after 12:30 p.m.) is $150. Complimentary grilled Mexican specialties and beverages are available at the club’s on-course palapas.

Cabo Real, another Questro Golf facility conveniently located in the center of the Tourist Corridor, is promoting an 18-hole green fee of $180 and a twilight rate of $125 after 12:30 p.m. The club’s Robert Trent Jones II-designed course, a vintage spread that dates to 1994, is a scenic, well-balanced layout that climbs from the beachfront into mountain foothills nearly 500 feet above the Sea of Cortes. Cabo Real’s back nine is arguably the most challenging in Los Cabos.

Club Campestre San Jose, located 15 minutes from Los Cabos International Airport and a local favorite, is a well-groomed Nicklaus Design chiseled into sloping desert terrain. Players can enjoy superb course conditions, beautiful views and the most undulating greens in Cabo. The club’s 18-hole green fee of $140 and twilight rate of $100 after 12:30 p.m. represents Questro Golf’s best bang for the buck this summer.

In addition to the seasonal discounts, Questro Golf’s 2-, 3- and 5-round Golf Passes, priced at $550, $360 and $270 respectively as per the above order of courses, permit play on all three venues. The non-transferrable Golf Pass is valid for 14 days once initial round is played. Each pass used at Puerto Los Cabos will incur a $20 surcharge due to all-inclusive food and beverage. https://questrogolf.com/

Another excellent summer deal is available at Cabo San Lucas Country Club, a Dye design that dates to 1994. The parkland-style layout, recently revised to enhance playability, is the only course in Los Cabos to offer a view of the iconic sea arch at Land’s End. The club also boasts the only lighted driving range in town. Through Oct. 16, the 18-hole green fee is $105 from 7:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. (with individual cart); and $85 for family members who share a cart. Rates include unlimited practice balls before the round and bottled water.

Recipient ofa Golf Digest Editors’ Choice Award, Rancho San Lucas offers a versatile Greg Norman Signature design opened in February 2020 that spans three different ecosystems. The links-style course rambles through massive dunes at the start, climbs through a cactus forest creased by arroyos, and returns players to the beach and sea on the back nine.

Through Sept. 30, the club’s Unlimited Golf Package for a one-week stay (6 or 7 days), priced at $565, includes unlimited golf, Taylor-Made rental set, access to on-course comfort stations and practice facility, and GPS unit with Bluetooth speakers. Featuring the same components as above, the package is also available for 4 days ($450), 3 days ($350) and 2 days ($250).  Regular golf guest fees, discounted through Sept. 30, include one 18-hole golf round, amenities as above and a replay rate discounted at 25% off the already reduced fee. Additional golf discounts, effective through Oct. 31, are available to Solmar timeshare owners and Solmar hotel guests.  https://ranchosanlucas.com/golf/

At Quivira Golf Club, its spectacular Jack Nicklaus Signature course characterized by huge windswept dunes, sheer granite cliffs and rolling desert foothills, players can take advantage of discounted summer rates through Sept. 30. Green fees are the same this year as they were in 2019. Ranked No. 7 in Mexico by Golf Digest, Quivira, which offers more oceanfront exposure than any other course in Los Cabos along with an unforgettable challenge, is priced at $275 for the mid-morning period from 11 a.m. to 1:24 p.m. The twilight rate, available from 1:36 to 3:00 p.m., is $233. Rates include food and refreshments at the club’s four comfort stations, including the open-air Oasis, its shaded patio perched high above the Pacific Ocean near the ninth tee. ‘Stay & Play Packages’ at Pueblo Bonito Resorts’ five properties, including the adults-only, all-inclusive Pueblo Bonito Pacifica Golf & Spa Resort located five minutes from the course, are available. https://www.quiviraloscabos.com/golf
