Williams-re-designed gem is one of myriad amenities at peerless private club

HOCKLEY, Texas (Aug. 3, 2020) – The championship Oaks golf course at The Clubs at Houston Oaks has been ranked No. 2 in the 2020 Top 100 Golf Courses in Texas rankings released recently by the Dallas Morning News. In addition, the No. 6 hole on the golf course has been dually-recognized as one of Texas’ Best 18 Holes, as well as one of Texas’ Most Beautiful 18 holes.

The Oaks Course, re-designed by Chet Williams and opened in 2017, debuted in the Top 100 in 2018 then rose to No. 4 in 2019. The par 71, 7,007-yard golf course, set amidst thousands of mature Live Oak trees, rolling topography and natural lakes, is one of several signature amenities at the Club, which is focused on outdoor activity and family fun.

The course plays host to member and guest rounds, as well as a variety of private events and amateur tournaments each year including the Big 12 Match Play Tournament.

In addition, the Club annually hosts tournaments for the Texas PGA and Texas Golf Association, qualifying events for the U.S. Women’s Open, and is slated to host the 114th Texas Amateur Championship in 2023.

Membership at The Clubs at Houston Oaks is by private invitation and personal referral through existing Members of the Club.

The Clubs at Houston Oaks is a private, 950-acre golf and sporting club located 35 minutes from downtown on a pristine campus formerly owned by Tenneco Oil & Gas Co.

Operated as a family retreat facility in the 1950s and ‘60s, and later operated as Tennwood Country Club prior to its transformation into The Clubs at Houston Oaks, the Club now features world-class golf and dining, tennis and pickleball, a Gun Club, equestrian facilities, 17 fishing lakes, a Wine Shop & General Store, Bunker 55 wine cave, lodging cottages, The Inn at Houston Oaks and more, including 40 private residential estates.

Current ownership has been in place since 2006 and has redeveloped Houston Oaks into a premier full-service private club and resort community
