ONTARIO, California  – The Southern California PGA Foundation announced it has received a $120,000 grant from Ability Central to support PGA HOPE (Helping Our Patriots Everywhere), the flagship military program of the PGA of America that introduces golf to Veterans to enhance their physical, mental, social, and emotional well-being.

The grant will support the SCPGA Foundation’s initiative, “Serving Our Veteran Community with PGA HOPE,” which expands access to golf instruction and adaptive programming for Veterans with disabilities throughout Southern California. Funding will help strengthen program delivery through adaptive golf cart access, assistive technology, specialized equipment, and training certifications that support inclusive participation.

“I am incredibly proud to announce our newest SCPGA Foundation partnership with Ability Central,” said James Davenport, SCPGA HOPE Coordinator and retired U.S. Navy Veteran. “This funding directly supports our Service Members and Veterans here in Southern California through PGA HOPE. It allows us to create more opportunities, host additional post-program events, conduct training certifications, and purchase adaptive golf carts for our most severely disabled Veterans.

“Being part of PGA HOPE has given me a renewed sense of purpose in serving those who served, and I’m deeply grateful for Ability Central’s support as we continue to grow and strengthen our PGA HOPE community across Southern California.”

PGA HOPE programs are hosted at golf facilities across Southern California and delivered in a supportive group setting led by PGA Professionals trained through the PGA HOPE curriculum.

Over recent years, the SCPGA Foundation has steadily expanded the program’s reach, growing from a limited number of locations to a broader regional footprint serving Veterans throughout the region.

Griffen Stapp, Executive Director of Ability Central, said, “We’re proud to support the SCPGA Foundation and PGA HOPE in their work to improve accessibility and wellness for Veterans with disabilities through adaptive technology and inclusive programming.”
