The outings will benefit the Aberdeen Country Club Community and FGI employees who were impacted by Hurricane Florence and the subsequent flooding

MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. (Oct. 21, 2018) — Two golf courses owned by Founders Group International (FGI) will host golf outings benefiting the Aberdeen Country Club Community and FGI employees who were impacted by Hurricane Florence and the subsequent flooding.

Both outings — one at Founders Club in Pawleys Island and another at Long Bay Golf Club in Longs — are opportunities to help those in need while playing a round of golf.

The first event will be the Founders Strong Golf Outing at 10 a.m. October 30 at Founders Club in Pawleys Island. The tournament format is a four-person scramble. Proceeds from the event will go to FGI employees affected by the storm and flooding.

The cost is $60 per player. The entry fee includes a round of golf, lunch after the round and prizes. There will also be a 50/50 drawing and silent auction. Those interested in signing up should email their foursome to Tom Van Hoogen at Tom.Vanhoogen@FoundersGolf.com.

“Hearing about what people have lost and what they are going through is heartbreaking,” said Van Hoogen, general manager and head golf professional at both River Club and Founders Club. “It’s tough when you hear and see homes with several feet of water in them. There have been many families in the Founders Group that have been affected by this storm. Employees from Longs down to Pawleys Island have suffered, and in this time of need, we want to come together and help our FGI family get their homes and lives put back together.

“During this tough time, the Myrtle Beach area has shown a lot of pride and determination in aiding our community in any way possible. Whether it is from donations, filling sand bags or helping people move out of flooded homes, the people have really come together to help out.”

The second event is the Aberdeen Country Club Community Rebuilding Golf Outing, which will have a 10 a.m. shotgun start on November 3 at Long Bay Golf Club in Longs. All proceeds will benefit those in the Aberdeen Country Club Community impacted by the storm.

The cost to enter is $60 per golfer and the golf shop will also collect household items and additional monetary donations. The entry fee includes a round of golf and lunch after the round. There will also be a 50/50 drawing. To register a foursome, email Corey.Bowers@FoundersGolf.com.

“Aberdeen’s community took one of the hardest hits from the flooding,” said Corey Bowers, head golf pro and general manager of Aberdeen Country Club. “So much devastation to the community, with almost every house and condo having damage from the storm. As Aberdeen Country Club, a part of FGI, we want to do whatever we can to help show support our community. So, we will do what we do best, which is host a golf event to raise money, household supplies and more. Anything to help our community rebuild.”
