A decade of engineering performance through custom fitting

PINEHURST, N.C. — VA Composites recently marked 10 years of engineering premium composite golf shafts trusted by golfers, club fitters, and professionals around the world.

Founded by Victor Afable, the company has spent the past decade focused on a single mission: helping golfers perform better through superior shaft engineering and professional club fitting.

What began as a small, self-funded venture grew into a company built around a simple belief — that the right shaft, properly fit, can transform a golfer’s performance as much as any club in the bag.

Over that time, VA products have been fit into thousands of golf bags through leading fitting organizations, independent builders, and premium golf retailers worldwide.

Today the company’s shafts are available through a network of roughly 400 authorized fitters and dealers internationally, and VA maintains OEM partnerships with several of the biggest names in golf, including Callaway, Titleist, Ping, TaylorMade, and Cobra.

“What started as a passion for engineering has become an incredible journey,” said Afable. “We’re thankful for every golfer, fitter, dealer, and partner who believed in our vision.”

A decade of product innovation

Since its founding, VA Composites has built out a full lineup of performance shafts engineered for every part of the bag, including RAIJIN BLACK, RAIJIN 2.0, SLAY, DRAGO, VYLYN, BADDAZZ, BADDAZZ GOLD, SYNYSTR, SYNYSTR CB, and NEMESYS, spanning woods, irons, hybrids, and putters.

Each shaft is engineered using advanced materials such as 40T carbon fiber and T1100 prepreg Japanese composites, and independently profiled for bend, torque, and deflection characteristics to give fitters precise, repeatable data to work from.

The company’s commitment to innovation continues into its second decade with the upcoming launch of the SYNYSTR HL, the newest addition to the VA lineup, alongside continued investment in fitting technology that helps dealers match golfers to the right shaft with greater accuracy than ever before.

“Every shaft we build starts with the same question: how do we help this golfer play better?” said Heather Shook-Afable, President of VA Composites. “That’s been true on day one, and it’s still true ten years in.”

Investing in the next decade

VA Composites recently expanded its Pinehurst headquarters with the addition of a new media production space, supporting expanded podcast, video, and social content aimed at bringing golfers closer to the engineering and fitting process behind every shaft.

As VA Composites enters its second decade, the company plans continued investment in research and development, fitting technology, international expansion, and new product innovation.

“The next 10 years are going to be even more exciting,” Afable added.
