Troon added two Delaware properties — Deerfield Golf Club in Newark and Garrisons Lake Golf Club in Smyrna — and Oakhurst Country Club in Clayton, California, to its management portfolio in January.

This story was first reported by Golf Inc. magazine.

Troon now manages 11 facilities in Delaware across all of its brands. Deerfield and Garrisons Lake are under management by Troon through its Indigo Sports brand.

The Delaware Department of Natural Resources and Environmental Control chose Troon to manage Deerfield and Garrisons Lake in August 2023. Troon assumed management, as well as the 15-year contract agreements between the DNREC and the State of Delaware, on January 1, 2024. The contract, which includes management of operations for the golf courses, pro shops, conference facilities, banquet rooms, restaurants and bars, expires at the end of 2038 with an option to extend for 10 more years.

Deerfield Golf Club opened in 1955 and features an 18-hole, 6,323-yard, par-70 golf course designed by William Gordon that borders White Clay Creek State Park and has dramatic elevation changes. The facility features a driving range, a large practice green, a teaching academy and two heated pickleball courts. The clubhouse includes a pub and grille with indoor/outdoor dining options and a golf shop, and the event center has capacity for up to 600 guests.

Garrisons Lake Golf Club originally opened as a nine-hole private club in 1962, before a second set of nine holes was added in 1963. The club currently features an 18-hole, 7,000-yard, par-72 course that sits on 160 acres. Garrisons Lake is currently undergoing course improvements such as a new cart barn and a 4,300-square-foot clubhouse, which will feature a pro shop, restrooms, pub and grill, and indoor/outdoor dining.

At Oakhurst, Troon will manage golf and club operations, food & beverage, retail, golf course agronomy and membership marketing. The club, which opened in 1990 and features an 18-hole links-style course designed by Ron Fream, covers some 360 acres of lakes and natural wetlands in the foothills of Mount Diablo. Other amenities at the club include four lighted tennis courts, a pool and fitness facility, fitness rooms and cardiovascular and weight-training equipment. The clubhouse features a restaurant and lounge, men’s and women’s locker rooms, a full-service pro shop, meeting rooms and banquet facilities.
