CARMEL, California – Set against the dramatic backdrop of the Santa Lucia Mountains, The Preserve Golf Club, an acclaimed Tom Fazio-designed masterpiece, will host two marquee amateur golf tournaments this October, drawing top talent from around the country.
On Oct. 15–17, the Stocker Cup, established in 1991, returns to The Preserve to honor Peter Stocker, a visionary real estate developer and founding partner of The Santa Lucia Preserve. Now a cornerstone of the amateur golf calendar, the event welcomes a distinguished field, including defending Stocker Cup champion Parker Sisk, who edged out runners-up Sean McInnis and Jake Spellerberg, who finished a stroke behind at -5.
77This 54-hole stroke-play tournament will be held alongside a best-ball competition. Each of the 56 invited mid-amateurs will be paired with a low-handicap amateur partner, either selected by the tournament committee or invited at the player’s request. Additional information and past results are available at StockerCup.com.
Later in the month, on Oct. 26–27, The Preserve Golf Club will host the Preserve Golf Club Collegiate. The event, organized in partnership with Cal Poly San Luis Obispo, will bring together 11 collegiate programs, including Cal Poly, Oregon, Northwestern, the University of San Diego, Ohio State, and Duke. Defending champions BYU will also return, and BYU alumnus Bobby Clampett will speak at a player event.
Teams will compete in a 54-hole format, with five players per team and the best four scores counting in each round. The competition kicks off with 36 holes on Monday, Oct. 26, followed by 18 holes on Tuesday, Oct. 27.

“We are honored to host both prestigious events at The Preserve Golf Club,” said Riley Ramones, Director of Golf. “The course is in exceptional condition and will challenge some of the game’s finest amateur and collegiate players.”
The collegiate event’s sponsors include Hope & Grace, Firestone Grill, Monterey Peninsula Foundation, Nichols Farm, Malbon, Cal Poly Partners, and PRG Golf.
The Preserve Golf Club is part of The Santa Lucia Preserve, a private community of fewer than 300 homesites on 20,000 acres. Set on the southern ridge of Carmel Valley, the course mirrors the contours of the surrounding natural terrain, including the Santa Lucia Mountains, mature oaks, grassy meadows, and flowing streams. In typical Fazio fashion, the course features strategically placed deep bunkers, fast greens, and challenging approach shots.
Minutes from Carmel-by-the-Sea, the Preserve offers residents and members a range of recreational opportunities, unmatched, while fostering a unique ethos of community, culture, and conservation.
