IRVINE, California and JERSEY CITY, New Jersey. – TGR Foundation and Liberty National Foundation announced a partnership that establishes an endowment for its Earl Woods Scholar Program to support students from under-resourced communities in New York and New Jersey.

“We’re grateful for the partnership and support of the Liberty National Foundation,” said Cyndi Court, TGR Foundation CEO. “We’re committed to working together to provide opportunities for young people from under-resourced communities that will change the trajectory of their lives.”

The Liberty National Foundation has committed a $1.2 million gift that will fund a cohort of five scholars selected annually beginning in 2025. This endowment ensures that the Liberty National Foundation cohort is funded in perpetuity.

“We are thrilled to announce this new partnership with TGR Foundation,” said Dan Fireman, Liberty National Foundation Executive Chairman and co-founder of Liberty National Golf Club. “This is what it’s all about, helping the next generation find their footing and doing what we can to ensure they are successful in whatever it is they decide to do with their futures. We couldn’t be prouder of these students and look forward to supporting and mentoring them on their journey.”

The Liberty National Foundation was established in 2024 by Paul and Dan Fireman, co-founders of Liberty National Golf Club, along with a group of likeminded members of the club with a passion for giving back and helping others. The partnership builds on both foundations’ commitment to supporting young people and using the game of golf for good.

Established in 2006, the Earl Woods Scholar Program was created to honor the vision and spirit of the late Earl Woods, Tiger Woods’ father and mentor. Holding one of the highest graduation rates among scholarship programs in the country, the renewable scholarship supports students throughout their four years in college and beyond.

In addition to academic excellence, scholars accepted into the program demonstrate a commitment to service, aligned with the Woods family legacy of sharing and caring.

“We are excited about this new partnership with the Liberty National Foundation,” said Tiger Woods, founder of TGR Foundation. “Their investment in our scholar program will help more students receive the support needed to chase their dreams.”

With the support of the Liberty National Foundation, the new cohort will start college this fall. The five scholars were chosen from a competitive pool of applicants who were referred to the program by teachers and school counselors and selected by TGR Foundation. The Liberty National Foundation cohort includes:

  • Anusha Alam – NEST+m
  • Mohammad Ali – Robert F Wagner Jr. SSAT
  • Jessica Gyamfi – Brooklyn Latin School
  • Samuel Paing – The Bronx High School of Science
  • Fatoumata Sow – Harlem Village Academies High School

The scholars are attending higher education institutions across the country including University of Southern California, City College of New York, Wesleyan University, Middlebury College and Bowdoin College.

This group of students is one cohort of TGR Foundation’s Earl Woods Scholar Class of 2029, including 14 additional scholars from Orange County, Calif, Los Angeles, Philadelphia, Pa, and the Washington, D.C.-Maryland-Virginia area.

The Earl Woods Scholar Program currently serves 94 scholars attending universities across the country. Beyond financial aid, all scholars receive wraparound services as they work toward their college and career goals. In addition to monthly workshops and opportunities, signature components of the program include one-to-one mentorship, internship placement assistance and career counseling.
