GLADEWATER, Texas — Award-winning Tempest Golf Club will host the 11th Texas Super Senior Championship, April 27–29, at the par-72 championship East Texas course. The event marks the second statewide Texas Golf Association competition held at Tempest, following the Texas Four-Ball in 2025.

The 54-hole event with no cut will feature the state’s top senior amateurs competing in two divisions, Super Senior (65 and older) and Legends (75 and over) , for the title of best in the Lone Star State. Competition begins with a Sunday, April 27 practice round before three days of championship play on the Jeffrey Brauer design.

Tempest’s par-72 layout rolls across nearly 200 feet of elevation change through the scenic East Texas Piney Woods, mixing natural beauty and championship challenge across 18 distinctive holes. The course features a four-acre freshwater lake, multiple forced creek carries, and long wooden bridges winding through rolling hills and iron-ore landscape.

Since its opening, Tempest has earned recognition as one of the premier public courses in Texas, including a No. 3 ranking among the state’s top public courses by Texas Monthly, the 18th Best Course in Texas You Can Play by Golf Digest, Best Outlying Course Outside of Dallas-Fort Worth five consecutive years by Avid Golfer Magazine, and consistent top 25 mid-priced course honors from the Dallas Morning News.

“We’re excited to welcome some of the best senior golfers in the state to Tempest and challenge themselves on our championship layout,” said General Manager, Jason Crews. “They’re going to experience what golfers from across Texas have been discovering, a championship layout with dramatic elevation, stunning views, and a level of quality you don’t expect to find in a public course. Hosting back-to-back TGA events is a tremendous honor, and we’re ready to showcase what makes Tempest special.”

Along with the state Four-Ball in 2025, Tempest has hosted a U.S. Amateur qualifier that attracted CBS television commentator and amateur golf standout Tony Romo, along with dozens of college, high school, and charity tournaments throughout the year.
First-time participant Dale Davis of Saginaw won the 2025 Super Senior Division, while Texas Golf Hall of Fame member John Grace captured his second consecutive Legends Division title.
