CALGARY, Canada —The Rogers Charity Classic Patron Group has added another prominent Calgary business leader to its ranks, welcoming François Poirier, President and Chief Executive Officer of TC Energy, to the distinguished group whose leadership has helped transform the tournament into one of Canada’s most successful charitable sporting events in Canada.

Since its inception in 2012, the Rogers Charity Classic has been guided by the Patron Group, which was brought together by the late Clay Riddell and includes Jim Riddell, Keith MacPhail, Guy Turcotte, Gary Peddle, Mike Culbert, Brad Shaw, and PGA TOUR Champions professional Stephen Ames.

Together, they helped establish what is now the PGA TOUR Champions’ only Canadian event and a tournament that has raised more than $164 million in support of children’s charities across Alberta.

“I’m honoured to join the Rogers Charity Classic Patron Group and contribute to a staple event in our community that has made a remarkable difference in the lives of children and families across Alberta,” said Poirier. “The tournament’s impact extends far beyond golf, bringing together business leaders, volunteers, sponsors, and fans in support of those who need it. I look forward to helping build on that legacy and supporting the continued growth of this extraordinary community initiative.”

As President and CEO of TC Energy since 2021, Poirier has led one of North America’s largest energy infrastructure companies, overseeing major projects and championing initiatives that support Canada’s economic growth and energy future. He brings extensive leadership experience spanning the energy sector, investment banking, consulting, corporate governance, and building community.

“François is a highly respected business leader whose commitment to community, leadership, and building a stronger Canada aligns perfectly with the values of the Rogers Charity Classic,” said Jim Riddell, Chair, Rogers Charity Classic. “The Patron Group has played an instrumental role in growing this tournament into a nationally recognized charitable success story, and we are excited to welcome François as we continue to expand our impact for children and families across Alberta.”

The Rogers Charity Classic returns to Canyon Meadows Golf and Country Club Aug. 17-23, bringing the stars of the PGA TOUR Champions to Calgary while continuing its mission of supporting charitable organizations that serve children and families throughout Alberta.
