Texas men’s golf junior was one of three men selected for the United States team recently

AUSTIN, Texas (March 29, 2021) – Texas men’s golf junior Pierceson Coody was named an initial committee selection for the United States’ 2021 Arnold Palmer Cup team recently. Three men and three women per side were named.

Coody, a Plano, Texas native, is a two-time All-American (2019 honorable mention; 2020 first team) for the Longhorns and champion of the 118th Western Amateur last August.

During his collegiate career, he has recorded 31 rounds at par-or-better and helped UT finish runner-up at the 2019 NCAA Championships.

Outside of collegiate golf, Coody advanced to the Round of 16 at the U.S. Amateur at Pinehurst No. 2. He also posted a two-stroke victory in the 116th Trans-Mississippi Amateur at Maridoe Golf Club in his home state, joining a list of champions that includes Jack Nicklaus, Longhorn Legend Ben Crenshaw and Bryson DeChambeau.

Coody was also a member of the 2020 USA Arnold Palmer Cup Team, and selected to the 2021 USA Walker Cup team earlier this year.

The remaining members of both the men’s and women’s Arnold Palmer Cup teams will be selected the week of May 3. For more information visit ArnoldPalmerCup.com.
