NIAGARA FALLS, Canada – Niagara Falls is one of the great wonders of the world and located within minutes of the Niagara Parks Commission, which operates one of the finest golf complexes in Canada.
The Commission is pleased to announce the dates for the fourth annual Friendship Cup June 23-25, and welcome senior amateurs age 55 and older.
This prestigious 54-hole event features an elite field of senior amateurs from throughout North America competing in four age groups: Senior (55-64), Super Seniors (65-69), Legends (70-74), and Super Legends (75-plus).

The Legends on the Niagara golf complex operated by Niagara Parks, features a 45-acre practice facility and 54-holes of golf including two championship courses by award winning architects Thomas McBroom and Doug Carrick.

The Ussher’s Creek course designed by McBroom played host to the first three editions of the Friendship Cup. The Battlefield course by Carrick will have the honor of hosting some of North America’s top seniors in 2025. Battlefield has hosted a number of Canada’s national championships including the 2004 LPGA Canadian Women’s Open.

The Friendship Cup is the brainchild of retired professional hockey goaltender Don Edwards, who played ten seasons in the National Hockey League. He is assisted by retired Canadian Tour Commissioner Rick Janes, a Life Member and past Chief Executive of the PGA of Canada.

“The Friendship Cup brings together many of the top senior amateurs in North America,” said Don Edwards. “Its appeal is a combination of a strong competitive field, a great golf facility and a world class destination with incredible beauty. Competitors rave about the tournaments first-class hospitality and we expect 2025 to continue that tradition.”

The Friendship Cup qualifies for the World Amateur Golf Rankings (WAGR) and Golfweek points and attracted three Golfweek champions in 2024, Kevin Vandenberg (Senior Division), James Starnes (Super Senior Division) and Bev Hargrave (Legend Division).

Hargrave is currently injured but Vandenberg and Starnes are committed to the 2025 field. John Armstrong, the 2024 Friendship Cup legends champion and 2017 Golfweek Super Senior Champion, posted a remarkable 54-hole score of 11-under last year is returning for the fourth edition.

Located in Niagara Falls, Ontario, near the Canada U.S. border and the Buffalo International Airport, the Legends on the Niagara golf complex is minutes away from the Niagara Falls entertainment district with major hotels, casinos, and the famous waterfalls that attract visitors from around the world.
