Stanford standout seals the Men’s Cup at the season finale; Schremmer claims the Women’s Cup

HOOVER, Alabama – The Elite Amateur Golf Series announced that Jay Leng has won the 2026 Men’s Elite Amateur Cup, completing a standout summer with a victory at the Western Amateur.

Scarlett Schremmer, previously announced as the Women’s Elite Amateur Cup champion, joins Leng as one of the series’ two season-long champions.

Leng secured the Men’s Cup by winning the Western Amateur at Beverly Country Club, the seventh and final event of the men’s series. The championship is one of amateur golf’s most demanding tests, requiring 72 holes of stroke play to determine the Sweet 16 before four rounds of match play.

Leng defeated Michael Riebe in the championship match to claim the title and finish the Elite Amateur Cup season at the top of the standings.

The San Diego native and Stanford standout built his Cup-winning season with high finishes across the series, including a runner-up finish at the Northeast Amateur. During the 2025-26 college season, Leng led Stanford with a 70.66 scoring average through 32 rounds, earned PING All-West Region and All-ACC honors, tied for third at The Goodwin, and helped the Cardinal win the ACC stroke-play title.

The Western Amateur victory proved decisive in the season-long race, rewarding Leng for both sustained excellence and his best performance at the moment of greatest consequence.

The Elite Amateur Cup combines World Amateur Golf Ranking performance points earned across seven men’s championships, with the standings carrying professional and amateur tournament exemptions for the leading players.

“Both points races were decided at their season’s final event,” said EAGS Director Nick Biesecker. “That shows the depth of the competition, and the level of play that Jay and Scarlett displayed, all the way through the final round.”

Schremmer claimed the Women’s Elite Amateur Cup after a closing surge highlighted by victories at the Women’s Southern Amateur and the LNGA Amateur Championship, the final event of the five-tournament women’s series.

The University of Miami golfer from Birmingham, Alabama, won the Southern in a playoff and then captured the 99th LNGA Amateur by one stroke with a birdie on the final hole.

Those two victories carried her to the top of a tightly contested Women’s Cup race.
