KemperSports has been selected to manage Tanglewood Golf Club in South Lyon, Michigan.

This story was originally reported by Golf Inc. magazine.

The club is a 27-hole daily-fee facility designed by Bill Newcomb which opened in 1991. The course has three different nine-hole layouts called the North, South and West course. The distinctive layout allows Tanglewood to host amateur events and outings, of which there have been many throughout its history, including multiple Golf Association of Michigan championships and competitions as well as several Celebrity Pro-Ams.

One of the standout features of the course is the design of the sixth and seventh holes: the green for the sixth hole is shaped like the lower peninsula of Michigan which connects to the tee box for the seventh hole, which is shaped like the upper peninsula.

The two features are connected by a replica of the Mackinac Bridge, mirroring the real-life bridge connecting the two peninsulas.

Other features of the course include an all-grass driving range and a large chipping and putting area, both of which are used by the course’s junior academy for camps, clinics, private lessons and club fittings. Tanglewood also has a full-service bar and restaurant open to the public, as well as a unique waterfront Victorian gazebo, outdoor patio and banquet hall.

“The state of Michigan and the Detroit area is known for great public golf and passionate golfers,” said KemperSports CEO Steve Skinner. “We share that passion and are excited to work with Tanglewood Golf Club to build on its strong history. The golf course has a great layout, and we look forward to elevating the customer experience and continuing to grow the game in the local community.”
