BROOKFIELD, Wisconsin (April 12, 2021) – The American Society of Golf Course Architects (ASGCA) recently welcomed a new member to its ranks: Trey Kemp of Dallas. His election keeps the number of ASGCA members who practice around the world to 175. 

Kemp earned a Bachelor’s Degree in Geography and Planning from Texas State University and a Master’s Degree in Landscape Architecture from the University of Texas-Arlington. He began his golf course architecture career as a Design Associate with Jacobson Golf Design, Libertyville, Ill., working with Rick Jacobson, ASGCA, and Doug Myslinski, ASGCA. 

After three years, Kemp was named Senior Golf Course Architect at Colligan Golf Design, Arlington, Texas. For the next 13 years, he worked under John Colligan, ASGCA, and was involved in many award-winning renovation and restoration projects. Today, Kemp is a golf course architect with Kimley-Horn and Associates, in Fort Worth, Texas.

Kemp has worked on more than 100 projects in 15 states. His golf experience includes 3 ½ years as an assistant golf professional, and he worked on the maintenance crew at Dallas National Golf Club while in graduate school.

Golf coursework in Kemp’s portfolio includes: Texas Rangers Golf Club, Arlington, Texas; Rockwood Park Golf Course, Fort Worth, Texas; Stevens Park Golf Course, Dallas; and Mustang Golf Course at Ross Rogers Golf Complex, Amarillo, Texas.

Candidates for membership in ASGCA complete a rigorous, multi-phase application process that includes peer review of representative courses, discussions with project owners and a personal interview to assess the candidate’s professional capabilities.

Founded in 1946 by Donald Ross, Robert Trent Jones and 12 other leading architects, the American Society of Golf Course Architects is a non-profit organization comprised of experienced golf course designers located throughout North America. 

Members have completed a rigorous application process that includes the peer review of representative golf courses. ASGCA members are able to counsel in all aspects of golf course design and remodeling and comprise many of the great talents throughout the golf industry.
