Heritage Golf Group announced it has acquired The Palisades Country Club in Charlotte, North Carolina, from Timberlake Golf Club LLC. The acquisition expands Heritage’s portfolio in the Carolinas, joining clubs in the Wilmington, Myrtle Beach and Hilton Head Island markets.

The club sits inside the 1,600-acre master-planned Palisades community and houses an 18-hole Jack Nicklaus design. The course winds through the terrain adjacent to Lake Wylie and is designed for golfers of all ages and skill levels. The course also features practice facilities and a dedicated short game area.

Mark Burnett, CEO of Heritage Golf Group, said that The Palisades is a great fit for the company as the company has been looking to establish a presence in the Charlotte market.

“Charlotte is a great market, and we’re excited to enter it,” he said. “Beyond the market itself, the Club offers what we usually look for in a lifestyle residential club. It has a full complement of amenities, including a championship golf course, a state-of-the-art fitness center, aquatics and racquets (both tennis and pickleball).

“Those amenities, combined with its strong residential community and multiple membership offerings, make it a great fit for our portfolio.”

Heritage is evaluating opportunities to enhance the clubhouse experience, including expanded F&B offerings and improved patio spaces. Over the next 90 days, the company will host member focus groups to help prioritize future investments. Immediate plans include improvements to bunkers, cart paths and turf conditions.

The Palisades Country Club becomes the 48th property added to the Heritage Golf Group portfolio in the last six years and continues the company’s impressive streak of acquisitions, including Florida properties Southern Hills Plantation Club in Brooksville; The Plantation Golf & Country Club in Fort Myers; Country Club of Ocala in Ocala and The Palencia Club in St. Augustine; and Colonial Country Club in Memphis, Tennessee.

The company’s focus remains on the eastern half of the country, though Burnett said Heritage remains open to opportunities in the West and elsewhere when they are the right fit.
