VOLCANO, Hawai‘i – Volcano Golf Course, Hawai’i Island’s first and oldest golf course, welcomed back golfers to the course on March 31 after being closed for nearly two years. Golfers are enjoying the natural beauty and panoramic views of the challenging par 72 golf course.

“The Volcano Golf Course has served the Hawai‘i Island community for over 100 years,” said Volcano Course General Manager Dawn Crozier of Indigo Sports, the course’s management company. “It was great to see golfers again enjoying the unique golf experience that this course has to offer.”

The Volcano Golf Course is now open seven days a week from 7 a.m. to 6:30 p.m. Kama‘āina rates for a walking round of golf are $36 on weekdays and $40 on weekends (Friday – Sunday). Clubs and push carts are available for rent.

Golf course staff will serve golfers from a temporary mobile office and grab-n-go snack and drink stand while landowner Kamehameha Schools explores options to construct a new clubhouse. Payment for golf and snacks will be by credit card only and the course recommends booking tee times in advance online at www.volcanogc.com.

About Volcano Golf Course

For over 100 years at Volcano Golf Course guests have been treated to panoramic views of both Mauna Loa and Mauna Kea while playing alongside endemic ‘ōhi‘a trees that bloom vibrant red, and the nēnē, Hawai‘i’s state bird that nest throughout the property.

This 18-hole golf course is set on the rim of the active Kīlauea volcanic crater 4,000 feet above the sea, making it a truly unique golfing experience.  For more information on the Volcano Golf Course, visit www.volcanogc.com.
