First fully automatic tee-to-green tracking experience

TEMPE, Arizona — Golfshot by Golf Genius, the leading golf GPS and performance tracking app, has announced the launch of Auto Putt Tracking, making Golfshot the first and only Apple Watch app to deliver fully automatic tee-to-green shot tracking with no other devices needed.

Building on five years of Auto Shot Tracking innovation, the new feature completes the world’s most comprehensive automatic round-tracking experience for golfers. Available exclusively on Apple Watch, Auto Putt Tracking joins Golfshot’s Auto Shot Tracking platform to deliver fully automated, tee-to-green tracking and analytics without a single tap, club sensor, or phone required.

Since pioneering automatic shot detection in 2020 and tracking over 374 million shots, Golfshot has continuously raised the bar for what golfers can learn about their game passively. With today’s launch, every putt — from lag putts to tap-ins and Texas wedges — is now detected, logged, and analyzed automatically, giving golfers a complete picture of their performance across more than 47,000 golf courses worldwide.

“Auto Putt Tracking closes the loop on a five-year mission to make shot tracking completely automatic. Golfers no longer have to choose between playing their best round and recording it. Golfshot now captures everything, tee to green, without a single tap, sensor, or phone in hand. That’s a real breakthrough for golfers at every level.” — Ben Addoms, President of Mobile Products, Golf Genius

Auto Putt Tracking builds directly on the foundation of Auto Shot Tracking, which revolutionized how golfers capture their rounds by using Apple Watch motion sensors to detect swings in real time — no extra hardware, and no manual input needed. Together, the two features create a seamless experience that covers every shot from the tee box to the final putt.

For beginners, Auto Putt Tracking removes the friction of learning how to log a round, making post-round insights immediately accessible and encouraging better habits from the start. For intermediate players, the complete tee-to-green dataset unlocks Strokes Gained analysis across every part of the game — driving, approach, short game, and putting — in a single round. And for advanced players and competitors, the depth and accuracy of fully automated tracking provides the same caliber of data previously available only through costly professional analytics tools.

Auto Putt Tracking is available today for Golfshot Pro members on Apple Watch 8 or newer. Download Golfshot and start a free 7-day trial to try Auto Putt Tracking.
