HONORING FORMER DIRECTOR OF GOLF, DREW DUNN AND CALLED ‘THE DREW’

ATLANTA, Georgia – The Georgia PGA is proud to announce the launch of a new, exclusive 18-hole tournament to be played at the iconic East Lake Golf Club on Nov. 3, honoring the life and legacy of Drew Dunn, PGA, the former Director of Golf at East Lake Golf Club.

The Drew will be open to Class-A PGA Professionals in the Georgia Section (excluding A-3 Professionals) only, celebrating the highest level of professional excellence within the game.

Made possible by the generous support of Philip Jones, PGA REACH Georgia Foundation Board Member and longtime supporter of the Georgia PGA, the tournament will award a life-changing $50,000 to the champion – the largest individual prize in Georgia PGA history.

“This tournament is a tribute to Drew’s legacy and everything he represented — professionalism, character, and the belief that golf can change lives,” said Scott Geary, Chief Executive Officer of the Georgia PGA. “Drew’s story is remarkable — from starting as a caddie at East Lake to ultimately becoming its Director of Golf. Hosting this event at the very place where his journey began with the support of a dedicated PGA REACH Georgia Board Member makes it even more meaningful.”

“East Lake Golf Club is honored to host this event in tribute to Drew Dunn—a man whose competitive spirit, unwavering determination, and deep love for the game left a lasting mark on all who knew him,” said Chad Parker, President and General Manager at East Lake Golf Club. “This tournament stands as a reflection of the legacy Drew leaves behind and is a celebration of the way he played the game: heart first, all in, and with a true passion for competition.”

“The timing is right to start a long-standing, traditional tournament for Georgia PGA Class-A Professionals that upholds the memory of Drew Dunn and helps pave the way for future Class-A’s to build a career in the game of golf,” said Philip Jones, PGA REACH Georgia Foundation Board Member and long-time Georgia PGA supporter.

“The cause and venue could not be more perfect for this tremendous 18-hole, playoff finish. With the help of the Georgia PGA and historic East Lake, I look forward to welcoming all qualifying participants to The Drew.”

In addition to tournament play, a special kickoff event will be held on the evening of Nov. 2  to welcome participants, PGA REACH Georgia stakeholders, and to celebrate the memory of Drew Dunn, PGA, setting the tone for an unforgettable experience.

Tournament Format & Structure:
The Drew will feature the top-72 players from the 2025 Georgia PGA tournament points list, competing in an 18-hole individual stroke play format. Tee times will run in threesomes from 8 – 10 a.m. off nos. 1 & 10, with pairings based on the 2025 Georgia PGA points list. The top 4 finishers (and ties) will then compete in a playoff on hole 18 to determine the winner. The champion will receive a $50,000 first-place prize, the largest individual payout in Georgia PGA history.

Full tournament details, including pairings and the schedule of events, will be posted soon on https://georgiapga.com/.
