Bunker experts EcoBunker, in partnership with Turfcare Australia, has secured a 55-bunker installation at Pennant Hills Golf Club, near Sydney. Each bunker features Ecobunker synthetic bunker edging that reduces the course maintenance burden while ensuring strength, stability, and long-term performance.

“After extensive research and evaluation, Pennant Hills Golf Club selected EcoBunker and Klingstone 400 as the superior solutions for their bunker walls and floors,” commented Shane Summerhayes, General Manager at Turfcare Australia. “These high-performance products are now being used to construct 48 brand new bunkers as part of the course redesign.”

The project started on the 19th hole, and after receiving positive feedback from the club, the team has moved on to the 17th and 18th green complexes.

“Turfcare Australia has done a superb job with the first phase installation and the results are stunning,” added Richard Allen, CEO of EcoBunker and inventor of synthetic bunker technology. “We’re delighted to be working with the team to demonstrate how EcoBunker technology can address issues around structural integrity, sand contamination and ongoing maintenance in tough environmental conditions. We’ve completed some fantastic work in Australia already and look forward to helping more clubs through our partnership with the team at Turfcare.”

Previous projects in Australia have included stunning revetted faces at The Links at Kennedy Bay with Graham Marsh, and at Killara Golf Club, where course architect and President of the Australian Association of Golf Course Architects, Harley Kruse used EcoBunker technology to present the bunkers in the style fitting to his design.

Harley commented, “‘The EcoBunker system allowed us to create a beautiful flowing bunker style, modelled on the Melbourne Sand Belt that would not have been possible using natural indigenous turf. The project at Killara has been a major success with both course maintenance staff and all golfers who are lucky enough to play there.”

With the next phase at Pennant Hills under way, and more projects planned for the coming months, EcoBunker synthetic bunker technology is set to become a regular sight across Australian courses in the coming year.
