9-hole, par-3 experience at historic Dallas stadium to be hosted by Andy Roddick, Peyton Manning and owners of acclaimed Tennessee golf course Sweetens Cove

DALLAS (April 15, 2021) — Augusta. St Andrews. Pebble Beach…and now, Cotton Bowl Stadium. On Tuesday, May 11, the legendary arena will be transformed from gridiron to a golf course for Cotton Bowl Golf Club by Sweetens Cove, a 9-hole, par-3 experience for fans, friends and aficionados of golf.

Sweetens Cove Golf Club in Tennessee is a darling of the golf world. Known for its “Field of Dreams” meets “Tin Cup” setting and low-key vibe, it is one of the most acclaimed courses in America. Golfweek Magazine has recognized Sweetens Cove as one of its top 50 modern courses in the nation—the only 9-hole course on the list and ranked higher than five courses that have hosted a U.S. Open Championship.

It has an all-star lineup of owners including Peyton Manning, Andy Roddick, Eli Manning and Jim Nantz. Peyton Manning and Andy Roddick will host the May 11 event at Cotton Bowl Stadium.

The event is open to the public and will feature both a 9-hole round for fans and a Golden Hour BBQ Bash for those who would best enjoy a festive spectator and social environment. Tickets are available now at this link. Rates are $60 for Golf Play and BBQ Bash or, $30 for BBQ Bash. Playing times will be available from 2 to 7:30 p.m. CT, and the BBQ Bash will run from 5 to 8 p.m. CT.

Players will work their way through a circuit of nine tee boxes on the south side of the stadium with holes created on the playing field. Four of the shots will be from the upper deck, including one at a distance of 152 yards, located to the front of the main scoreboard.

The remaining shots will be from tee boxes on the lower deck onto the playing field. Each “hole” will be outlined on the stadium playing field and will feature a target scoring circle and various visualized golf architectural elements, including bunkers, water hazards and trees. The longest hole will be 152 yards and the shortest will be 61 yards.

Each of the nine holes will feature a thematic tribute to a legend of Texas Golf history, with a special visual presentation about each great. The list of legends includes: Byron Nelson, Ben Hogan, Sam Snead, Babe Zaharias, Lee Trevino, Lee Elder, Ben Crenshaw, Kathy Whitworth and a surprise ninth personality to be announced later.

The event was purposely planned to coincide with the week of the PGA’s AT&T Byron Nelson tournament, which runs May 13-16 at TPC Craig Ranch.

“We can’t think of a better way to celebrate golf, springtime in Texas and good friends and fans than to mash-up Sweetens Cove and Cotton Bowl Stadium,” related Mark Rivers, Managing Partner of Sweetens Cove. “It would be rare for us to pass on a day of fun, food and friends connected to golf just about anywhere—throw in a little football history and, boom, let’s go!”
