NOORD-BRABANT, Netherlands – Bernardus, host venue of the 2026 Solheim Cup, has been named Best Golf Club in the Netherlands at the 2026 Golfers’ Choice Awards by Leading Courses, securing the country’s top position for the third consecutive year and reinforcing its status as the nation’s top course.

The rankings are based entirely on verified reviews from golfers who have visited and played the course, offering an authentic reflection of the on-site experience and providing a level of credibility that sets them apart from traditional media or industry-led awards.
Bernardus’ latest success was further underlined by three additional honors from Leading Courses, having also been awarded top spot in the categories for Best Maintenance, Best Hospitality and Best Facilities. Together, the awards reflect the all-round quality of the club experience, both on and off the course.
Among them, Best Maintenance carries particular weight, underlining the importance of course conditioning at Bernardus and the pride the team takes in this aspect of the club experience. The award is a tribute to the work of the greenkeeping team and superintendent Niall Richardson, whose care, expertise and consistency are central to maintaining the course at such a high standard.
Sabine Riezebos, General Manager at Bernardus, shared: “Being recognised as the number one golf club in the Netherlands for the third year in a row is a wonderful achievement for Bernardus. To reach that standard is one thing, but to sustain it is another entirely. The fact that this recognition comes from golfers themselves makes it especially meaningful and is a real credit to the passion and commitment of our whole team.”
Since opening in 2018, Bernardus has grown into one of Europe’s leading modern golf and lifestyle destinations. The heathland-style course, designed by Kyle Phillips, is presented at tournament standard throughout the year, supported by a long term approach that balances playing quality with respect for the natural environment.
This latest recognition further strengthens Bernardus’ position both nationally and internationally, as the venue continues its development ahead of hosting the Solheim Cup in September 2026, which will mark the first time the event is staged in the Netherlands.
The year also represents an important moment for the wider destination. Noble Kitchen, the on-site Michelin starred restaurant, will enter a new phase in April with an updated concept, adding to the overall experience and reinforcing the strength of the offering beyond the golf course.
As Bernardus looks ahead, this recognition reflects both current performance and the continued ambition of the team, as well as the growing role the destination is playing in shaping the profile of golf in the Netherlands.
