Alma Mater Unveils Diverse List of Brand Investors

Professional golfers, broadcast talent and collection of baseball, basketball, hockey and football athletes round out impressive roster

LOS ANGELES –  Alma Mater, the footwear company using innovation to create a profound impact in the golf community, is pleased to announce a robust, dynamic list of athlete investors that is reshaping the conversation around the construction of a golf shoe. This announcement comes in advance of the opening of a new round of fundraising for the growing footwear brand.

Alma Mater’s investors include:

  • Professional golfers Taylor Montgomery and Natasha Oon
  • NFL players Jordan Poyer and Levi Wallace
  • NHL legends Joe Pavelski and Tyler Seguin
  • TV host and Gold Medalist Victoria Arlen
  • MLB stars Kevin Millar, Jackie Bradley Jr., Jed Lowrie and Chris Young
  • NBA player and announcer Mike Smith

As investors, this group brings together a collective experience that goes beyond a simple marketing relationship. Their decades of accumulated experience inside elite competition, as well as the discernment to recognize when a product is a game changer in the marketplace, will be invaluable for Alma Mater. Together, they will provide needed perspective on design, development and growth – and help build a brand worthy of the game they love.

The Alma Mater team spent more than 25 years inside the industry at the biggest brands in footwear before setting out on their own with one question in mind — “why does a golf shoe always force a compromise? Performance or comfort, or style, but never all three.”

The Beta, released in Summer 2025, was Alma Mater’s answer. Engineered from first principles rather than inherited conventions, it delivers uncompromised performance, comfort and style through a proprietary three-piece construction platform called 3PE Technology.

3PE Technology is the integrated platform at the core of the Beta — three distinct components, engineered to work together so stability, cushioning and traction no longer require trade-offs. The design team rejected the industry convention of building from cleated shoe platforms. Instead, they used advanced materials and a hollow center design to engineer premium golf performance and all-day walking comfort.

3PE Technology comprises three proprietary systems:

  • The Slipper – A nitrogen-infused ETPU foam midsole: the same material elite ultra-marathon runners trust for 100-mile races. No rigid slab blocking compression. Just premium cushioning that engages with every step.
  • The Gripper – An adaptive hexagonal lug outsole co-developed with a leading gravel bike tire manufacturer. The lugs are spikeless but not soft — variable heights and directional siping engineered specifically for the rotational forces of a golf swing, not borrowed from another sport.
  • The Zipper – A TPU perimeter exoskeleton that eliminates the rigid slab found in conventional golf cleats and makes the rest of the system work together seamlessly. It provides lateral stability through the swing without sacrificing the flexibility the foot needs when walking.

The Beta has been recognized in MyGolfSpy’s Best of the PGA Merchandise Show and named to Golf Digest’s Best Men’s Golf Shoes of 2026 — recognition earned, not manufactured.

“We build with the people who got us here,” said Nathan Brown, CEO of Alma Mater. “This group didn’t sign on for a check. They invested because they’ve worn the shoe, they know what we’re doing differently, and they want to be part of building something that gives golf what it deserves. That’s not a marketing relationship. That’s a foundation.”

The Beta Longwing and the Beta Lite are available for purchase in select stores and nationally at Alma Mater’s website.
