PHOENIX, Arizona   – The I GOT THIS Foundation is thrilled to announce an I GOT THIS Discovery Golf Clinic presented by Waste Connections, is set to take place at The Golf Trails at The Woodlands on Sept. 20. Check-in begins at 2:00 PM, with the clinic running from 2:30 PM to 4:30 PM.

This unique event invites individuals with intellectual disabilities to explore the joys of golf.

Led by LPGA Professional Susie Redman from Arcis Golf, this inaugural clinic in Texas offers participants a welcoming environment to experience the sensory side of golf, learn basic golf techniques and engage in stations for putting, chipping and full swing.

The inspiration behind the I GOT THIS Foundation stems from a remarkable moment during the 2019 WM Phoenix Open. Representing Special Olympics Arizona, Amy Bockerstette, made par on the famous 16th hole at TPC Scottsdale, alongside pro Gary Woodland.

This moment, captured on video by the PGA Tour with an estimated 60 million views, is behind the foundation’s mission to promote golf instruction and playing opportunities for people with intellectual disabilities.

Vanessa Young-Wintner, a Woodlands club member and passionate advocate inspired by her son Luke’s love for golf, played a pivotal role in bringing this clinic to the area. “The I GOT THIS Discovery Golf Cinic is an opportunity to build something truly amazing here for our community,” Young-Wintner stated.

Executive Director Tracy Hupko, “The desire to grow the game of golf for people with intellectual disabilities is at the heart of the I GOT THIS mission, and we are thrilled to bring this opportunity to families in the Houston area. We hope to spark a desire for participants to continue to learn and play golf by offering professional instruction and introducing golf in a fun and supportive setting.”

To ensure a fulfilling experience, each Athlete will bring along a Playing Partner — an adult who plays a key role in the Athlete’s life. This partnership enhances communication, provides ongoing guidance and builds bridges to future golf opportunities.
