Second annual event will be played on four of Myrtle Beach’s best courses

MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. – Golf Tourism Solutions, the agency responsible for promoting Myrtle Beach as a golf destination, will be hosting the second annual Country Club National Championship Oct. 4-9 on four of the Grand Strand’s premier courses.

Former Golf Channel personality Brian Hammons is the driving force behind the Ryder Cup-style event, which will attract 64, eight person teams. The host courses will be Arrowhead Country Club, Dye Club at Barefoot Resort, Glen Dornoch Waterway Golf Links and Grande Dunes Resort Course.

The event will open with a practice round and pairings party on Oct. 4. The following day, all 64 teams will play a qualifying round and they will be flighted according to score, with the top 4 teams at each course advancing to the Championship Flight.

Match play will begin in all four flights on Oct. 6 with each team playing a match a day, leading up to the championship round on Oct. 9.

“We are thrilled to partner with Golf Tourism Solutions to help run the 2022 Country Club National Championship,” said Brian Hammons, President of the Country Club National Championship. “They put on many great events every year in Myrtle Beach and each is first class. Our players will really enjoy the experience playing in this one-of-a-kind event.”

The CCNC will utilize three formats in every match, each worth two points – 6 holes of four-ball, 6 holes of foursomes, 6 holes of singles. Even after a team is eliminated, it will continue to play matches and enjoy the experience.

Cost to enter the event is $12,500.

Arrowhead, a 27-hole Raymond Floyd design, is renowned for the quality of its conditions and having several holes that play along the Intracoastal Waterway.

Glen Dornoch is one of Myrtle Beach’s most popular golf courses, highlighted by an unforgettable closing stretch that features three holes that play along the Intracoastal.

Grande Dunes, which has been ranked among America’s 100 Greatest Public Courses, is yet another host course that resides along the waterway. The five holes at Grande Dunes that bring the Intracoastal into play are highlighted by the par 3, 14th, which plays from an elevated tee box to a green bordered by the water.

The Dye Club at Barefoot, the longtime host of the Hootie & the Blowfish Monday After the Masters Celebrity Pro-Am, is no stranger to big events. The Pete Dye design has also been ranked among the nation’s top 100 public layouts and will serve as an ideal host.
