Windy opening day for Landmand

Weather can’t kill the buzz at start of course’s second full season.

HOMER, Nebraska – The start of the second full season for the acclaimed Landmand golf course in eastern Nebraska was greeted with a strong wind, but the weather didn’t deter the 88 golfers who had been lucky enough to bag an opening day tee time from enjoying the experience ‘Up Top’ in the Loess Hills.

“Opening day was a true Landmand experience, as the wind – which blew at a steady 25mph all day long, was about as intense as we experience here,” says general manager Adam Fletcher. “But it was a great day, and we are so happy to be welcoming golfers here again. It’s going to be a fabulous summer.

“Several of the players had been here on opening day last year, and we received a number of comments that the course, which had been in incredible condition for its first full season in 2023, was significantly better this year. That’s a great testimony to the work put in by superintendent Pat Fischer and his crew, but it’s also a sign that the course is maturing.

“The out of play areas are starting to get to the sort of condition that architects Rob Collins and Tad King envisaged when they planned the course, and it means that the Landmand experience is getting better and better.”

Landmand put its 2024 tee times on sale via its website on New Year’s Eve and sold out the entire season in less than three hours, but cancellations do occur, and the course’s website, www.landmandgc.com, has a facility for golfers to put their names on a waitlist for times.
