PROVENCE-ALPES-COTE d’AZUR, France – Terre Blanche Hotel Spa Golf Resort, in Provence, has confirmed its reputation as one of the world’s most sustainable golf resorts by retaining two important certificates: GEO Certified and Clef Verte (Green Key).
Converting to drought-resistant grass and advanced water management were among the factors cited by the GEO Foundation for Sustainable Golf when it assessed France’s No.1 Golf Resort.
Hector Forcen, the independent verifier overseeing GEO certification, said: “Terre Blanche’s long-term environmental vision has translated into effective, systems-driven action from the very beginning. Key initiatives include converting to drought-resistant Bermuda grass, advanced water management and on-site wastewater treatment.
“The greenkeeping team’s dedicated efforts to protect the course environment have also helped raise awareness and educate staff, members, and the community, solidifying the resort’s role as a true sustainability leader.”GEO Certified, awarded by the GEO Foundation for Sustainable Golf, is the most respected international certification for golf, and recognizes the resort’s actions on nature, resources, community and climate.
Meanwhile, Clef Verte is the sought-after sustainable tourism label bestowed on hotels, restaurants and other hospitality establishments by the French government.
Marc Delauné, President of Terre Blanche, added: “Having first achieved GEO Certified® status in 2016 and now retaining this label reinforces our long-term commitment to sustainability across our golf courses, the wider resort and our residential community.
“This renewal, as well as that of our Clef Verte, recognise our collective efforts to protect nature, manage resources responsibly and support the local community. It also places Terre Blanche among an international network of golf destinations actively leading the way in sustainable practices.”
Terre Blanche is one of only three golf venues in France to have received the Gold Certificate for Biodiversity from the French Golf Federation and the National Museum of Natural History.
The 36-hole European Tour Destination was recently featured in an episode of The Green Report by Syngenta, highlighting the world’s leading sustainable golf courses.
Terre Blanche comprises a luxury resort and private members’ club, featuring a five-star luxury hotel, spa and Michelin starred restaurant, as well as Europe’s top golf academy.
Just 45 minutes’ drive from Nice Côte d’Azur Airport – serviced by direct flights from across Europe, North America and the Middle East – and set within a 300-hectare estate close to the French Riviera, the World Top 100 Resort is also the first and only Troon Privé affiliated property in France.
