CAPE MAY COURT HOUSE, NJ –   Stone Harbor Golf Club, a premier private golf club in Cape May Court House, NJ, announces the completion of a comprehensive, multimillion-dollar golf course renovation under the ownership of Heritage Golf Group.

The project marks a significant milestone since Heritage acquired the club in June 2023, with a vision to reimagine the course and position Stone Harbor as a premier coastal golf club on the Jersey Shore.

Originally designed by Desmond Muirhead in 1988, Stone Harbor has been recognized for its coastal beauty and challenging design. The recently completed renovation – led by nationally known golf course architect Tyler Rae, in collaboration with the Stone Harbor Golf Course Superintendent and Heritage Golf Group – was executed in two phases to minimize disruption for Members.

Phase one, focused on the front nine, began in Fall 2023, with the back nine completed in early 2025.

“We’re thrilled to mark this new era at Stone Harbor Golf Club. This comprehensive renovation elevates the club’s reputation and positions it among the top18-hole private courses in the region. We’re proud of the transformation and excited to share the enhanced course with our Members and their guests,” said Joel Gohlmann, Executive Vice President of Operations, Heritage Golf Group.

The tee-to-greens renovation focused on enhancing the course’s overall playability, aesthetics, and sustainability. Key improvements include:

  • Irrigation: Installation of a modern, state-of-the-art irrigation system throughout the course.
  • Bunker Enhancements: Complete redesign and upgrade using the Better Billy Bunker system for improved drainage and visual appeal.
  • Tee Boxes: Laser-leveled, expanded, and newly constructed tee areas.
  • Hole Improvements: Strategic reshaping of multiple holes to improve playability and flow, including the addition of a sand cart path and coastal-style bunkering on holes 9 and 15.
  • Fairways & Roughs: Re-sodded fairways and roughs with premium turf and grass.

The fully renovated course is now open and has been met with enthusiastic feedback from Members. To celebrate the reopening, Stone Harbor hosted an exclusive walk-through event with Tyler Rae, allowing Members to explore and appreciate the course’s transformation alongside the architect.

“Stone Harbor has always been a first-class facility at a wonderful location along the Jersey Shore. Over the span of this renovation, we strived to enhance the experience and update the long-term infrastructure components on the golf course and practice facility to ensure the Club continues to exceed member and guest expectations.

“The new irrigation system, cart path, tees, bunkers, and fairways will set the Club up for success for decades to come and we hope everyone enjoys the renovated golf course,” said Tyler Rae, Golf Course Architect.
