PALM BEACH GARDENS, Florida (April 7, 2021) – The PGA of America has announced that Kevin Swan, PGA Director of Golf Operations at the Club at Mediterra in Naples, Florida, and Craig Trahan, PGA Director of Instruction at Denton (Texas) Country Club, have earned PGA Master Professional status—the highest educational designation that can be obtained by a PGA Member.

Swan, a member of the South Florida PGA Section; and Trahan, a member of the Northern Texas PGA Section, join a special group of more than 400 PGA Members who have earned PGA Master Professional status. Swan achieved PGA Master Professional designation in Golf Operations, and Trahan received his designation in Teaching & Coaching.

The PGA Master Professional Program is available to any PGA Professional who has achieved advanced certification through the PGA Certified Professional Program, which was launched in 2004. The curriculum includes an extensive project based on the specific certification previously acquired by the PGA Professional.

Upon approval of the project and successful completion of a presentation, a PGA Member will earn the prestigious PGA Master Professional status. To be eligible, the PGA Master Professional Program requires a minimum of 10 years of PGA Membership.

Swan, a 13-year PGA Member, is a graduate of the Methodist University PGA Golf Management University program. He is a Titleist Staff member and TPI Golf 2 Certified. In 2016, Swan earned the North Florida PGA Southwest Chapter Bill Strausbaugh Award and the North Florida PGA Southwest Chapter Patriot Award in 2018.

“Achieving Master Professional status has been a career goal of mine since becoming a PGA Member, and the support and guidance from my mentors and family was instrumental throughout the process,” said Swan. “I look forward to mentoring my staff and fellow Professionals to help them achieve success in their career journeys.”

A PGA Member since 2006, Trahan is recognized as one of the “Best Young Teachers in America” according to Golf Digest. Prior to achieving Master Professional designation, he earned PGA Certified Professional status in Teaching & Coaching and Golf Operations.

“Attaining Master Professional status has been a goal of mine since I entered the industry, and this is a true reflection of the hard work and dedication, as I am committed to growing the game of golf with enthusiasm and passion,” said Trahan. “I want to inspire other PGA Members to be the best they can be, so they can make a positive impact on those around them and the game of golf.”

The PGA Master Professional Program (MPP 2.0) was established in 1969 to recognize PGA Members who have made a significant effort to improve as golf professionals and maintain the highest degree of excellence for themselves and their operations.

As part of its Member education curriculum, the PGA MPP 2.0 program was designed to ensure PGA Professionals are prepared to meet the growing demands of the marketplace.
