The historic club in Rochester, N.Y., will host the premier major championship for the first time
LIBERTY CORNER, N.J. – The United States Golf Association has announced that in 2037, Oak Hill Country Club, in Rochester, N.Y., will play host to the 92nd U.S. Women’s Open Presented by Ally, bringing women’s major championship golf to the iconic club for the first time.
“Major championship golf is in the DNA of Oak Hill and we are thrilled to bring the U.S. Women’s Open to the club for the first time,” said John Bodenhamer, USGA chief championships officer. “Oak Hill has long been a proven stage for some of golf’s biggest moments and we are proud to add the U.S. Women’s Open to its storied history. We are certain the local community and fans across the world will embrace the worthy test it will provide for the game’s best players.”
Oak Hill has previously hosted seven men’s professional major championships, including three U.S. Opens, as well as three additional USGA championships and the 1995 Ryder Cup. With today’s announcement of the 2037 U.S. Women’s Open, the club is set to welcome two more in the coming years.
Oak Hill will also host the 2027 U.S. Amateur Championship, marking its third time as host of the country’s oldest amateur competition following the 1949 and 1998 editions. The 2027 U.S. Amateur will be the first USGA championship at Oak Hill in nearly three decades.

Oak Hill has been associated with some of the greatest champions in U.S. Open history. With his victory in 1989, Curtis Strange became the first player to win back-to-back U.S. Opens since Ben Hogan (1950-51). His 72-hole score of 2-under 278 was one stroke better than three players as he rallied from three behind at the start of the final round. Cary Middlecoff won his second U.S. Open in 1956 and Lee Trevino captured the first of his two U.S. Open victories in 1968. Miller Barber won the second of his record three U.S. Senior Open titles in 1984.
Founded in 1901 on the banks of the Genesee River, Oak Hill moved to its present site in 1926. It was at that time that the Donald Ross-designed East and West Courses debuted. Over the years, numerous changes have been made to the East Course, and in 2019, Andrew Green completed a restoration of the course.
The 2037 U.S. Women’s Open will be the seventh held in the state of New York. The Empire State will also host the 2036 U.S. Women’s Open as part of a back-to-back with the U.S. Open at Shinnecock Hills Golf Club. The last U.S. Women’s Open in New York was held in 2013, when Inbee Park won the second of her two titles at Sebonak Golf Club, in Southampton, N.Y.
The U.S. Women’s Open is one of 15 national championships conducted annually by the USGA. It is open to professional female golfers and amateur females with a Handicap Index® not exceeding 2.4. The championship was first conducted in 1946, and its winners include Babe Didrikson Zaharias, Betsy Rawls, Mickey Wright, Hollis Stacy, Annika Sorenstam, Se Ri Pak, Juli Inkster, Cristie Kerr and Inbee Park. Most recently, Maja Stark claimed the 80th U.S. Women’s Open at Erin Hills by two strokes over Nelly Korda and Rio Takeda.
