“This exciting milestone marks the beginning of a new chapter for Buffalo Creek,” said Steven Held, president of Legacy Golf Properties. “We are honored to become the new stewards of this beautiful property, which has long been a cornerstone of the local community thanks to the dedication and vision of the Perry family.”
Measuring 7,018 yards from the back tees, this par 71 course was designed by Jay Morrish and former PGA TOUR player Tom Weiskopf and opened for play in the summer of 1992. Buffalo Creek Golf Club is a semi-private facility and is ranked among the Top Public Courses in the Dallas area. The layout offers some great opportunities for birdies as well as some holes that will truly test even the most proficient players and most seasoned ballstrikers.
Buffalo Creek Golf Club’s putting surfaces are turfed with smooth-rolling Champion Dwarf Bermuda and the facility features a pleasant variety of practice facilities to help players refine their ball-striking skills and short game.
Buffalo Creek Golf Club also boasts event amenities, including a pavilion, to complement the friendly customer service from its staff.
“The day-to-day experience of our members and guests will continue to be our top priority,” Held said. “We hope that they will notice a renewed attention to detail during their visits to Buffalo Creek, including everything from curb appeal and facility maintenance to new food & beverage offerings.
“While these details are obviously important to the overall experience, the golf course remains the foundation of our club and we are committed to partnering with general manager Mark Aston and superintendent Chris Rather to ensure that Buffalo Creek provides the best course conditions in the area.”

Buffalo Creek Golf Club is the third facility under the Legacy Golf Properties umbrella. Legacy also owns and operates Comanche Trace in the Texas Hill Country town of Kerrville as well as Cimarron Hills Golf & Country Club in Georgetown, some 30 minutes north of Austin.
Comanche Trace, with 18 holes of peerless golf designed by the partnership of World Golf Hall of Famer Tom Kite and renowned golf architect Roy Bechtol and another nine holes fashioned by the father-son team of Jay and Carter Morrish, has been ranked one as one of the top golf course communities in the nation.
Cimarron Hills Golf & Country Club’s course is a Jack Nicklaus Signature design and is on the short list of top private layouts in the Austin area.
Legacy Golf Properties is known for its initiative for making its courses the focal point and centerpiece of neighborhoods where family and camaraderie among their members are hallmarks.
“Beyond the greens, we are passionate about positioning our clubs as the true social epicenter of their communities,” Held outlined. “We achieve this by curating a rich calendar of social programming and activities designed to foster connections, build relationships, and create vibrant hubs where members and residents can gather, celebrate, and share in life’s moments.”
