CHARLOTTESVILLE, Virginia – Keswick Hall, the renowned luxury boutique resort covering 600 acres in the heart of picturesque Virginia Wine Country, will host the 100th Virginia State Golf Association Women’s Amateur Championship on its celebrated Pete Dye-designed Full Cry golf course from July 14-16.
The centennial celebration of this prestigious event will feature one day of stroke-play qualifying, with the top 16 players advancing to the championship flight for match play. Players who do not make the top 16 will be placed in consolation flights. The round of 16 and quarterfinal matches are scheduled for Tuesday, July 15, followed by the semifinals and 18-hole championship match on Wednesday, July 16.
Notable past champions include Lauren Coughlin (2012, 2013), a two-time LPGA Tour winner and the official touring professional of Keswick Hall, and Lauren Greenlief, who won in 2017, 2018 and 2024, making her the 10th player to secure at least three VSGA Women’s Amateur Championship titles.
Additionally, members of the Virginia Golf Hall of Fame such as Donna Andrews, Kandi Comer, Robbye Unger, Mary Patton Janssen, Jane Mack and Lily Harper Martin have also left their mark, with Martin holding a record seven VSGA Women’s Amateur Championship crowns.
“The VSGA Women’s Amateur Championship is undoubtedly one of the premier amateur tournaments in Virginia, and it holds a very special place in my heart,” says Coughlin, who joined Keswick Hall as its official touring professional in January. “Competing in this championship truly laid the foundation for my professional golf journey. The high level of competition and the pressure of match play provided invaluable experience that prepared me for the challenges that I would face out on the LPGA Tour.”
While the championship has been held since 1922, this year marks only the second time that the winner will receive an exemption into the U.S. Women’s Amateur Championship, the leading golf tournament in the United States for female amateur golfers. The 2025 U.S. Women’s Amateur is scheduled for Aug. 4-10 at Bandon Dunes Golf Resort in Bandon, Ore.
