16th annual event raises $1 M, featured 350 sponsors and special guest

INDIAN WELLS, California – Indian Wells Golf Resort, the world-class public golf, vacation, culinary and events destination located in the picturesque Coachella Valley,  hosted the 16th annual Stater Bros. Charities Jack H. Brown Heroes Challenge, raising a record-breaking $1 million toward community initiatives in Southern California and beyond.

More than 350 sponsors and special guests flocked to Indian Wells for the cause, including seven Congressional Medal of Honor recipients and 11 tour professionals. Among those in attendance were honorary tournament host chairman Dave Stockton as well as Lee Trevino, Gary McCord, Donna Caponi-Byrnes and Brittany Lang. To cap off the proceedings, the resort played host to the Heroes Challenge Golf Tournament on March 6.

From the event, Stater Bros. Charities awarded a total of $310,000 to local non-profit organizations making a positive impact in Southern California. This included $50,000 each to the Congressional Medal of Honor Society, Michelle’s Place Cancer Resource Center, Children’s Fund, FIND Food Bank, Shoes That Fit, and C4 Foundation, and $10,000 to the Hunter Lopez Memorial Foundation.

“It was truly an honor to host this group of passionate individuals focused on raising money and helping those in need both in our community and around the country,” says Indian Wells Golf Resort general manager Sven Wiedenhaupt. “We are always proactively seeking ways we can make a difference, and we look forward to hosting similar events like the Stater Bros. Charities Jack H. Brown Heroes Challenge in the future.”

Stater Bros. Charities is a non-profit organization that helps strengthen local communities by investing in causes with a focus on hunger relief, children’s well-being, education, health, veterans and active service members, and pet well-being. The event, named after Stater Bros.’ late Executive Chairman, Jack H. Brown, celebrated his legacy of honoring those who serve and continue to serve our country, in addition to his generous support to the communities served by Stater Bros. Markets.
