Gamble Sands unveils new Scarecrow Course logo

New course opens Aug. 1, 40 new rooms at the inn open this summer
BREWSTER, Washington – Gamble Sands, the Top 100 golf resort, has unveiled the logo for its new Scarecrow Course, the much-anticipated David McLay Kidd design slated to open to resort-guest and public play on Aug. 1.
The Scarecrow logo was designed by the Gebbers family (owners of Gamble Sands) and features a tall, slender figure holding a flagstick. The Gebbers family also illustrated the original Gamble Sands rabbit logo, the QuickSands course logo and The Barn restaurant icon.
Built on 300 acres of rumpled and rolling terrain where cornfields once stood, Scarecrow overlooks the Columbia River Valley, while watching over the neighboring apple and cherry orchards of the Gebbers’ family farm. The corn is gone but the Scarecrow still stands, serving as a defender of the fertile soil’s new purpose.
In Scarecrow, McLay Kidd and design associate Nick Schaan have transformed a twisted saddle of undulating land and river-view ridgeline into what golfers will soon come to find as a counterpart yet contrasting experience to Gamble’s original and award-winning Gamble Sands Course. Scarecrow will play to a par of 71 and stretch to 6,900 yards.

“This is our Scarecrow – a friendly-yet-mysterious presence welcoming golfers to this bold new DMK design,” said Gamble Sands General Manager Blake Froling. “The Gebbers family wanted our Scarecrow to look and feel almost human, like he might appear in the fairway at any moment for a few swings before retreating back into the apple trees that still line the golf course, resuming his duties as defender of the fields.”

In addition to the opening of Scarecrow, the Inn at Gamble Sands will open 40 new double-king luxury rooms this summer, giving the hotel a total of 77 rooms. The new rooms overlook the Scarecrow Course and offer spacious accommodations, with walk-in showers, a large screen television, mini fridge, a coffee maker, and private patios.

A new putting green will be located adjacent to the new rooms for guests to enjoy before and/or after their rounds. This summer, Gamble Sands will also debut a new onsite shuttle service to and from The Inn, the clubhouse/F&B complex and the golf courses.

With 50 holes of golf, including two 18-hole McLay Kidd-designed championship courses and a fun-to-play 14-hole McLay Kidd-designed short course, a 100,000-square-foot Cascade Putting Course, as well as multiple food and beverage options, Gamble Sands is a premier golf destination.

The property’s original Gamble Sands Course is currently No. 14 on GOLF Magazine’s “Top 100 Courses You Can Play” ranking and is firmly entrenched as a Top 100 golf course in the United States.
