Multi-million dollar course renovation and amenity expansion projects to begin in 2025

FORT MYERS, Florida – Colonial Country Club recently approved an amenity improvement plan that includes renovation and expansion of the club’s golf shop and cart barn as well as makeovers of the pool area and community center.

Earlier this year, Colonial approved a full golf course renovation project that will focus on enhancing the overall golf experience for members and visitors, including improving playability, aesthetics, and sustainability.

The golf course renovation project will begin on April 1, 2025, while work on the golf shop, pool and community center will begin during the summer of 2025. Both improvement projects are expected to be completed by the end of 2025.

Key highlights of the amenity improvement project include:

  • Renovation and expansion of the Colonial Country Club pro shop
  • A complete rebuild of the cart barn with expanded bag storage
  • Installation of a new and expanded pool deck
  • Renovation of the Community Center, which will include additional card playing space, a tennis lounge, expanded gym and expanded fitness class space.

“As Board President, I’m thrilled to announce the overwhelming approval of our $10 million master plan,” said Colonial Country Club Board President Dan Casciano. “This vote underscores our community’s commitment to the Member experience. We look forward to embarking on this transformative journey together with Troon.”

“This vote marks a significant milestone in the Board’s commitment to the Members. Colonial is not just a private Club but also a community,” said Colonial Country Club General Manager and Chief Operating Officer Robert Podley, CCM, CAM. “Together, we’re poised to create a future where excellence and enjoyment thrive in every aspect.”

As announced earlier this year, Colonial Country Club is teaming with Gordon Lewis, the course’s original architect, to lead the golf course renovation. Course renovation work will include re-grassing of the golf course with Bimini Bermuda grass; new greens throughout the course; building an additional practice putting green and chipping green; a new irrigation system; tee and bunker renovations; cart path reconfiguration; bulkhead replacements; as well as waste area and drainage improvements.

Colonial Country Club was recently awarded the prestigious ‘Distinguished Club’ designation by BoardRoom magazine in partnership with Forbes Travel Guide.

In addition, Colonial was named one of ‘America’s Healthiest Clubs’ by Prevo Health Solutions; a Top 100 Golf Shop by the AGM Platinum Awards; and achieved Top-Ranked status in culinary and racquet operations from Club and Resort Business Magazine.
