GLADEWATER, Texas – Tempest Golf Club, the award-winning East Texas golfing gem, is hosting its first ever Fight for the Flag golf tournament on Friday, July 5.

Proceeds from this patriotic day of fun and golf will benefit the Tempest Flag Foundation, a 501c3 dedicated to preserving the huge, iconic American flag graciously donated by Mike Clements of Energy Weldfab in 2020 which stands 208-feet tall behind the ninth green at Tempest.

Several levels of sponsorships are available for the inaugural event.

“There are no more patriotic, flag-loving golfers than those in East Texas and who play at Tempest Golf Club,” said Tempest head professional Randy Wade. “This is a perfect chance to play this great course once again or for the first time and support the huge American flag at Tempest.”

Registration will begin at 7:30 a.m.; with an opening ceremony and shotgun start at 9 a.m. Lunch will be provided with a putting contest to follow the tournament. After the morning golf, there will be free play for any tournament participant who wants to bring their entire family to play Tempest.

For more information and to sign-up, you can e-mail lharris@tempestgolfclub.com or go to www.tempestgolfclub.com

“We looking for a full group of golfers who are excited to Fight for the Flag at Tempest on July 5,” Wade added.

Tempest recently named the third best public course you can play in Texas by Texas Monthly, the Best Dallas/Fort Worth Outlying course by Avid Golfer and has been Top 50 overall in the state by the Dallas Morning News.
