EDMOND, Oklahoma — Tripp Davis and Associates was engaged by the Atlanta Athletic Club to completely renovate and redesign its historic Riverside Course, presenting the new course for member play in November 2022.
Davis’s comprehensive work re-envisioned the routing, playing strategy and visual quality of the former Robert Trent Jones, Sr. layout.
Specific goals of the project were to update the course infrastructure from tee to green, accentuate the beautiful Riverside terrain in a more natural way and enhance playing enjoyment for members and high-caliber golfers.
While Davis’s superb reimagining of AAC’s Riverside Course has received many accolades since its reopening, LINKS magazine just recognized his work as one of the “9 Notable Golf Course Redesigns Since 2020.”
In their selection of the Riverside Course, the transformation that was achieved is described as “the creation of a layout that, at times, reflected its former self but in many places delivered an entirely fresh experience. Some of the changes made to impact playability and provide greater diversity in the sequencing of holes were made to allow the course to better connect with the dynamic and beautiful land that surrounds it.”
“We are honored that our work on the Riverside Course at the Atlanta Athletic Club is included as one of the nine notable course redesigns since 2020,” said Davis.
