Comanche Trace leads initiative to help feed, support Kerrville flood relief workers

The management, residents and members of the Comanche Trace community in Kerrville are leading an initiative to feed and provide support to the hundreds of relief workers who are helping the Texas Hill Country region recover from the horrific flash floods and its aftermath that has staggered Kerr County.

Chefs and their staffs from Comanche Trace, as well as its sister club Cimarron Hills Golf & Country Club in Georgetown, Texas, a team from LaBedelle’s BBQ in Wall, Texas and a dedicated group of volunteers have set the goal to prepare and deliver up to 500 hot meals per day to the communities in need.

The effort is being marshaled by Comanche Trace’s Executive Chef Jay Nash, Executive Chef Juan Roman of Cimarron Hills G&CC, Chef Andrew Pettit of LaBedelle’s BBQ and Chandler Mikeska, the previous executive chef of Comanche Trace.

The Terry Mikeska Foundation, working in collaboration with Comanche Trace and other organizations, has launched a focused relief initiative to provide fresh, chef-prepared meals to displaced families and first responders impacted by the devastating floods.

The teams are working directly with local nonprofits and delivery partners to ensure every dollar donated goes as far as possible – and specifically toward the cost of food, preparation, and distribution. One hundred percent of the funds raised through this initiative will be used for the flood relief project.

Sack lunches began on Tuesday, July 8, with hot meal service to be served beginning Wednesday, July 9 and continuing through Friday, July 11 at the very least. Details of service time and drive-through pick up location will be announced.

At this stage of the relief effort, supplies are plentiful and monetary donations are the most impactful way to assist.

“For those of you that would like to continue supporting the relief efforts, we ask that you contribute directly to one of the funds that has been established to help people who have been impacted by the flood,” said Justin Jafarian, the chief operating officer of Legacy Golf Properties, the owners of both Comanche Trace and Cimarron Hills G&CC.

“Thanks to our members, we’ve already completed several supply runs filled with donated essentials. Our chefs and team members, in partnership with vendors and local volunteers, are preparing meals to be delivered directly to displaced families and individuals throughout the Hill Country.”

Please send donations to one of the organizations listed below:

The Community Foundation (local nonprofit relief fund)

Kerr County Flood Victims Funeral Donations

Salvation Army Kerrville

“There will be ongoing needs in the weeks ahead as families begin to rebuild,” Jafarian added. “We’ll continue to provide updates and let you know how you can help.”
