Ongoing improvements at top-rated Florida club enhance active lifestyle

NAPLES, Florida – At Bonita Bay Club, members are passionate about staying active and finding new challenges, be it in the Lifestyle Center (wellness and fitness), racquet sports competitions, or by taking on the challenge on one of the club’s five golf courses.

Starting this month, several amenities will be upgraded on the club’s two campuses in southwest Florida. The Board recently approved extensive upgrades and improvements to their Sabal Course, Naples Clubhouse, practice facilities, and the addition of two new golf performance centers.

The $12 million clubhouse will be built on the footprint of the former building on the Naples campus, creating a new dining room and bar, locker rooms, and retail shop.   The positioning of the Lowcountry-inspired clubhouse will maximize views onto the 18th greens of- Cypress and Sabal golf courses.

On the same campus, the 14-acre golf practice facility will undergo a $2 million renovation. Improvements will include enhanced fairway cuts to mimic tee shots found on the courses, a wedge-specific area with multiple greens at short yardage, an enlarged short game practice area, and a new practice putting green for the Sabal Golf Course.

Nearly 47,000 cubic yards of fill will be used from the site to raise the range landing area and to create Bermuda grass target greens, creating a dramatic new practice area.

Additionally, the Tom Fazio-designed Sabal Golf Course will undergo a $16.5 million renovation, touching all features on the course—from drainage to greens. Led by Fazio Design Senior Design Associate Tom Marzolf, the Sabal renovation will take approximately 16 months to complete.

Bordering on a wildlife preserve, Sabal is a member-friendly golf course featuring five par 5s and five par 3s offering a different playing experience than the adjacent Cypress Course.

Renovated in 2022, the Cypress Course was recognized by Golf Inc. with third place in the Private Club category in the magazine’s 2023 Renovation of the Year competition.

“These upgrades and additions to Bonita Bay Club’s facilities are part of the Club’s master plan,” said Fred Fung, Bonita Bay Club’s CEO and General Manager.  “Our members are engaged and seek excellence in all aspects of their lifestyle here.  Last year’s Cypress renovation set the bar for how we can make an already excellent golf experience ever better.”

Bonita Bay Club is recognized as a leading Platinum Club with the finest of member amenities.  With five golf courses in play, club leadership has a proactive plan to improve and enhance all aspects of this club.

The Bonita Springs campus will receive two new Golf Performance Centers.  One will include a four-bay, 4500-square-foot golf academy featuring the latest golf instruction technology, including a golf-specific fitness area with Technogym equipment.

The academy will house a break room for instructors and other staff. In addition, a two-bay, 1500-square-foot area building will include one bay for club fitting and the other for an artificial putting green with changing undulations. The two-bay will also have a dedicated club repair area with the ability to build and customize clubs on-site.
