PALM BEACH GARDENS, Florida  – BallenIsles Country Club here recently hosted separate PLAY for P.I.N.K. tennis and golf events to raise money for breast cancer research. Between the two events, more than $90,000 was raised for the national breast cancer research organization.

PLAY for P.I.N.K. (Prevention, Immediate diagnosis, New technology, Knowledge) supports a nationwide network of volunteers who raise money for breast cancer research through sporting and lifestyle events to speed advances in prevention, detection, treatment and survivorship. PLAY for P.I.N.K. donates 100 percent of its proceeds to the Breast Cancer Research Foundation.

On Tuesday, Feb. 10, members of the BallenIsles Women’s Golf Association and Women’s National Golf Association participated in a PLAY for P.I.N.K. golf event. With the theme “CRUSH Breast Cancer,” more than 336 ladies participated in the tournament that took place on BallenIsles’ North, South and East courses.

Cocktails, hors d’oeuvres, silent auctions, a raffle and a special dessert by Pastry Chef Gloria Baretto followed the golf event. BallenIsles’ members Marjorie Berkley and Michelle Haddad led the golf fundraising event.

On Saturday, Feb. 14, a men’s and ladies tennis PLAY for P.I.N.K. fundraiser included 60 participants and featured a 60-minute tennis clinic with BallenIsles’ tennis professionals followed by 60 minutes of round robin play with fellow members and the BallenIsles racquet sports staff.

“The support, enthusiasm and involvement of the BallenIsles Community was truly amazing. Our committee of volunteers was so dedicated and driven to make this year’s Play for P.I.N.K. the very best and raise as much money for the charity as we possibly could. Kudos to all who participated,” said WNGA Co-Chair Marjorie Berkley.
