OLYMPIA FIELDS, Illinois – Olympia Fields Country Club has approved a comprehensive master plan of the club’s historic North Course, led by golf course architect Andrew Green. Construction is scheduled to begin October 2026, with a targeted completion in May 2028.

This historic restoration will honor and reinforce the original architectural vision of renowned architect Willie Park Jr. while modernizing the golf course infrastructure to support championship golf and long-term sustainability for future generations.

This project will draw upon extensive historical research and will include the reconstruction of greens, reshaping and restoration of bunkers, expansion and repositioning of select teeing grounds, enhanced drainage systems, and the installation of a state-of-the-art irrigation system.

Additional turfgrass varieties will be implemented that are more drought, pest, and disease resistant. This will support more efficient water usage and long-term environmental sustainability. The upgraded drainage infrastructure is also being designed to improve course playability and conditioning following significant rain events, an important consideration for both daily member play and championship competition.

“This restoration is not about change, it is about renewal,” said Michael Botelho, President of Olympia Fields Country Club. “It is about preserving the genius of Willie Park Jr., while ensuring the North Course has the infrastructure, agronomic strength, and architectural integrity needed to thrive for the next 100 years.”

Golf course architect Andrew Green, widely recognized for his restoration work at premier clubs across the country, will lead the transformation of the North Course. His portfolio includes acclaimed restoration projects at Oak Hill Country Club, Congressional Country Club, East Lake Golf Club, Inverness Club, and several other historic championship venues.

“This project ensures that Olympia Fields continues to welcome the world’s best players at the highest levels of the game, while also enriching the everyday experience for the membership,” Green said. “ It protects the legacy you inherited and secures the future we all wish to build.”

Originally designed by Willie Park Jr. and opened in 1923, the North Course has hosted two U.S. Opens, two PGA Championships, one U.S. Senior Open, one U.S. Amateur, and one Women’s PGA Championship. Olympia Fields Country Club most recently hosted the 2020 and 2023 BMW Championships.
