HEATHROW, FLORIDA (January 16, 2015) – Golf professional Rob Noel, who operates successful golf schools in Abita Springs and Jefferson, La., has been named to the GOLF Magazine biennial list of Top 100 Teachers in America for 2015-2016.

The complete “Top 100 Teachers” list will appear in the April 2015 print issue of GOLF and the January 21 SI Golf + digital e-mag. Since its inception in 1996, GOLF Magazine’s Top 100 Teachers in America list has become the industry standard for teaching excellence.

“I am proud to be named to one of the most prestigious and most recognized list of golf instructors in the industry,” said Noel, a member of Proponent Group — golf’s premier membership-based service company for top-echelon instructors and coaches.

Noel, who also is one of the inaugural instructors of the newly formed Golf Channel Academy, is among the game’s most influential and recognizable teachers. He will join the rest of the 11 new members of the GOLF “Top 100 Instructors” for a special presentation at the PGA of America’s Teaching & Coaching Summit next week at the Orange County Convention Center in Orlando, Fla.

Owner and founder of the Rob Noel Golf Academy in Abita Springs, and operator of the Big Easy Golf Academy in Jefferson, Noel has been named the Best Teacher in the state of Louisiana four times. During 28 years of teaching golf, he’s received numerous awards and accolades, including recently being named the Gulf States Section PGA Youth Player Development Award winner for his work with the Section’s youth. Noel is a five-time recipient of the Gulf States Section PGA Teacher of the Year Award.

He established the first Rob Noel Golf Academy at Bayou Oaks Golf Course in New Orleans in 1992. Prior to that he was the Director of Instruction at Lakewood Country Club, also in New Orleans. An AimPoint Senior Certified Instructor and The Golfing Machine “Golf Stroke Engineer Master” (or GSEM), Noel has taught a number of different touring professionals in the past, including two-time Nationwide Tour winner Kelly Gibson, 1998 British Open runner-up Brian Watts, 2002 LPGA Tour Rookie of the Year Beth Bauer, and 2004 U.S. Ryder Cup team player Chris Riley.

Candidates for GOLF Magazine’s Top 100 Teachers in America list are selected from nominees submitted by the PGA, LPGA, United States Golf Teachers Federation, top industry executives and GOLF Magazine readers. In addition, candidates are judged on their willingness to give back to the game and to the PGA and LPGA through apprentice education, member continued education, or research or lesson programs
