MYRTLE BEACH, S.C.  – Golf Tourism Solutions members joined together to raise $20,000 to help people in the Western North Carolina golf and hospitality industries whose lives were devastated by Hurricane Helene through an auction hosted by Play Golf Myrtle Beach.

“Our community always rises to the occasion when our neighbors are in need,” said Dave Genevro, General Manager of Barefoot Resort and Golf and Chairman of Golf Tourism Solutions. “Many of us have friends and colleagues in the Western North Carolina region, and we remain committed to their ongoing recovery and rebuilding efforts.”

GTS members donated over 60 experiences ranging from rounds of golf to beachfront stays for the auction which ran through June 1. All proceeds from the auction were donated to three established non-profit organizations in Western North Carolina:

  • Carolinas GCSA Hurricane Disaster Relief Fund
  • NC Hospitality Workers Relief Fund
  • National Golf Course Owners Association

“On behalf of the National Golf Course Owners Association (NGCOA), I want to express our heartfelt thanks to the Myrtle Beach golf community for the success of the recent auction,” said Jay Karen, NGCOA’s CEO. “This industry is incredible. The funds raised through this initiative will provide vital support to golf courses in North Carolina who were severely impacted by Hurricane Helene.”

The initiative reflects the continued generosity from the Grand Strand golf communities as many made contributions and provided support in the aftermath of the storm.
