PORT ST. LUCIE, Florida (Jan. 6, 2021) – PGA Golf Club has named Clay DuBose, CGCS as Director of Golf Courses and Grounds.

With over 25 years of multi-course management, warm season and ultradwarf grass experience, DuBose will lead PGA Golf Club’s course maintenance team. He is responsible for directing and administering all agronomic practices, golf course maintenance and conditioning, and overall management of operations that relate to the golf courses, common grounds and buildings.

DuBose is responsible for delivering high quality golf course conditions consummate with the standards of the PGA of America, while demonstrating an advanced knowledge of agronomy and turfgrass management practices.

Owned and operated by the PGA of America, PGA Golf Club features 54 holes of Championship golf designed by legends Tom Fazio and Pete Dye.

For the past four years, DuBose managed the golf course maintenance operations at TPC Myrtle Beach. Designed by Fazio, TPC Myrtle Beach is just the second course in South Carolina (alongside the Ocean Course at Kiawah Island Golf Resort) to be awarded 5-star ratings by Golf Digest.

The facility was also named “South Carolina Golf Course of the Year.” In addition, he served as South End Regional Superintendent for four years, where he was in charge of golf course maintenance for The Tradition Golf Club, Willbrook Plantation Club, River Club and Litchfield Country Club.

DuBose also spent four years each as Superintendent for Diamond Back Golf Club and First Superintendent at the Pete Dye and P.B. Dye-designed Prestwick Country Club in the Myrtle Beach area.

“With Clay DuBose’s vast expertise with grasses in a southern climate, and his experience with golf courses designed by both Tom Fazio and Pete Dye, he is a tremendous addition to our facility,” said PGA Golf Club GM/Director of Golf Jeremy Wiernasz, PGA.

“Clay brings to PGA Golf Club a leadership approach that highlights and builds upon our extraordinary team. With Clay’s talent and skill set, we are well-positioned to enhance the experience for PGA Members, club members and our guests.”

As the “Ultimate Golf Destination,” PGA Golf Club is home to three highly decorated courses. The Wanamaker Course ranked 17th in Golfweek’s “2020 Best: State-by-State Courses You Can Play” rankings, while the Dye Course ranked 25th – making PGA Golf Club one of only a handful of properties with two layouts on the respected list.

“PGA Golf Club is an ideal spot for me to become the new Director of Golf Course and Grounds,” said DuBose. “I am extremely excited about the opportunity to lead the agronomy team into the future, and introduce the facility to the newest advancements and techniques in golf course management.

“We plan to produce some of the finest playing conditions that represent the PGA of America at the highest possible level. We will also focus on enhancing and developing the skill set of our management team, so that they may reach their career goals in the turf management business.”
