MONTGOMERY, Ala. (July 23, 2019) – The Emerald Coast Golf Tour’s Summer Championship coming to Montgomery July 29 through Aug. 2 and will be held at Arrowhead Country Club. There will be a Montgomery Biscuits baseball game Monday night for all the players in the tournament, followed by a practice round on July 30.

The Pro-Am for props and amateurs will kick off its first round of the 54-hole, three-day tournament on Wednesday, July 31, concluding its final round on Friday, Aug. 2.

The tournament will benefit and promote the development of junior golf within the Montgomery area. The Emerald Coast Tour will be putting on a free junior clinic for local kids on Thursday, Aug. 1 at 4 p.m. on the driving range and will work with all the kids on basic golf fundamentals. The event will also benefit the Ronald McDonald House which is a wonderful organization and the tours official charity.

The 2017 winner was Glenn Northcutt who is a former All-American at Auburn. He won in a five-man playoff. Brandon Godwin of Montgomery was the 2018 champion.

The tour has graduated many players to the PGA tour. Some of the past alumni include Joe Durant (a former Huntington college player) Boo Weekley, Heath Slocum, past Masters champion Bubba Watson, Ben Bates, Jerry Kelley, J.P. Hayes, George McNeil, Patton Kizzire and Bobby Wyatt, just a few that started out on the Emerald Coast tour.

Recent players who played for Huntington and Faulkner University include Brandon Godwin, Jay Eunis, Chase Blaich, Mack Duke and Thomas Sutton.

Amateurs interested in playing in the Pro-Am can contact Rod Dyer at Arrowhead Country Club at 334-272-7180. Entry fee is $100 and includes a kickoff party on Tuesday night at the Arrowhead Country club, lunch on Wednesday, and the awards party at Arrowhead with tournament prizes.
