The course recently debuted at No. 7 in Golfweek’s “Best Courses You Can Play in South Carolina.”

HILTON HEAD, S.C. (March 5, 2018) – The Sea Pines Resort, host of the PGA Tour’s RBC Heritage Presented by Boeing held on its famed Harbour Town Golf Links, announced that its celebrated Atlantic Dunes by Davis Love III has received the National Golf Course Owners Association (NGCOA) “National Course of the Year Award.”

The NGCOA annually honors outstanding member courses based on exceptional course quality, exceptional quality of management, outstanding contribution to the community, and significant contribution to the game.

Atlantic Dunes recently debuted at No. 7 in Golfweek’s “Best Courses You Can Play in South Carolina.”

“We are thrilled to recognize Atlantic Dunes as the ‘Course of the Year,’” said Jay Karen, Chief Executive Officer of NGCOA.  “Cary Corbitt and his team have always been ‘all-in’ with regard to the quality of their courses, as well as what they do for golf and the Lowcountry of South Carolina.”

“We’re so honored Atlantic Dunes has received this prestigious award,” said Cary Corbitt, Vice President of Sports & Operations of The Sea Pines Resort. “Davis Love and his team did an incredible job creating the new course and our members and guests have been raving about the layout since it opened a year ago.”

The work of Love Golf Design, Atlantic Dunes is a complete reconstruction and recreation of the resort’s historic Ocean Course, the first on Hilton Head. Love, the victorious 2016 U.S. Ryder Cup Captain, lead architect Scot Sherman and Mark Love fashioned entirely rebuilt holes to accommodate modern shot values and frame scenic corridors.

Most notably, Atlantic Dunes now features a pronounced seaside ambience and Lowcountry feel accented by coquina shells and seaside grasses. The project’s goal to incorporate elements of the surrounding beachfront along with native pines and oaks lining the fairways was realized with stunning results. The course benefits both visually and strategically from restoration of natural sand dunes as well as the creation of new dunes blending seamlessly into the design.
