SCOTTSDALE, Arizona – Troon, the leader in providing golf and club-related leisure and hospitality services, awarded $100,000 in scholarships in 2022 to support diversity within respective university’s Hospitality, PGA Golf Management and Turf Sciences programs.

Students attending the University of Maryland Eastern Shore’s PGA Golf Management Program; the University of Nevada, Las Vegas’ College of Hospitality; the University of Alabama’s College of Hospitality; and Penn State University’s Turf Sciences College each received $25,000 scholarships over the last 9 months.

“As one of this year’s recipients, I wanted to express how grateful I am,” said Kassidy Powell, who received the Troon DE&I scholarship at Penn State University in October. “I’m preparing to graduate at the end of the spring semester and receiving this scholarship will allow me the opportunity to spend next semester not stressed about money.

“I hope that the relationship between Troon and Penn State continues into the future as I believe that it can be extremely beneficial to other Penn State students.”

The Troon Diversity, Equity & Inclusion scholarship program is committed to providing educational assistance to students from diverse backgrounds seeking to enter the field of hospitality, including Hotel and Restaurant Management, Professional Golf Management, and Turf Sciences.

The scholarship program will award a $25,000 scholarship to students at the four universities enrolled in PGA Professional Golf Management, Hospitality Management or Turf Sciences programs.

“Troon is dedicated to providing opportunities for individuals to grow their love of the game of golf and the endless career opportunities within the industry,” said Kendall Murphy, Director of DE&I at Troon. “These scholarships are more than growing the golf and hospitality industry, they are about providing opportunities to make the industry more diverse, equitable, and inclusive. That is the future of the industry, and these scholarships allow us to facilitate that growth moving forward.”
